You Gotta Read This Book - Then Buy One for a Friend

This book shares the very raw emotions of grief and loss, and what that very dark place looks like when we lose all hope. When we forget for a moment that tomorrow is a new day with endless possibilities, and that we have to stay to see what those might be. It’s also a book with a very real description of the journey out of that black hole, with the beginnings of a beautiful love story (enter Allen). Thank you Chuck for sticking around for Mikee and the kids, and all of us out there who are waiting to see what’s next in the adventures of Allen (and his dad).

Woosh!

Have tissues ready, because you are going to need them to read this honest, raw account of one man's journey through loss, grief, hopelessness and recovery. It is possible hit rock bottom, and then fall farther. Though the final blow was the loss of his feline friend, it's clear other factors were in play leading to Chuck's downward spiral. But this story proves their is always hope, always something to keep going, no matter how deep the hole is. A friend of mine once called this journey 'the dark night of the soul', which seems close to what Mr. Hawley must have experienced. This is a must read for anyone needing a glimmer of hope, no matter how dark our lives might seem to be; you just have to look for it.

The roller coaster ride of emotions

I knew going into this book it was going to be honest. What I didn't expect was the depth of it. Never has a true story hit me as hard as this one. But it also proved a few things; Sticky helped find Chuck's voice to give hope to others, and Allen and the gang helped hold onto that hope for Chuck until he was really ready. This book is incredible and should be used in therapy sessions. I have never read such a vivid account of depression and loss of hope, and then the small but important steps back to now. Thank you! I would not be surprised to hear of more lives saved! Bless you all, Hawley Family!!

STUPID CAT - A Book That Will Wreck You (In the Best Way)

This book is going to change lives. It's raw, gut-wrenching, and uncomfortably honest. Stupid Cat isn't just about losing a pet-it's about losing yourself. It's about grief, depression, and that slow, stumbling crawl back toward hope. It's heavy and dark, but it's laced with the kind of humor only people who have truly suffered can understand.

Chuck Hawley doesn't hold back. He gives people permission to feel the things they might be afraid to say out loud. This book doesn't sugarcoat grief or wrap things up in a neat little bow. It wrecks you-and then, somehow, it puts you back together. Not in the way you were before, but in a way that makes you want to stay.

The title Stupid Cat is perfect. It lures you in with humor, with a wink and a nudge, and then punches you in the gut. Because grief is absurd. Depression is ridiculous. And the things that keep us here? Sometimes, they're as small and stupid as a cat, a sandwich, or a stranger in a craft store.

This isn't the kind of book people might expect from Chuck Hawley. It's not for kids. It's raw, real, and yes-there's strong language. But if you've ever been lost, if you've ever felt like you were standing on the tracks waiting for the train, this book is for you. Because maybe-just maybe-you don't have to get on.
